About the College and Career Ministry at Heritage

For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 1 John 5:3-4

OVERVIEW

The Union College and Young Adult Ministry is intended for young adults ages 18 to 35, regardless of marital status or academic level. The main activity of the group is to receive expository teaching and instruction on how to live holy lives before God.

Some of the areas of focus are how to:
  • Evangelize others for Christ
  • Enter into and participate in the ministry of the Church
  • Engage in discipleship
  • Encourage each other in the Faith
  • Establish meaningful relationships
  • Exercise Biblical discernment

SPIRITUAL TRANSFORMATION

We want to meet people where they are in life and to see their lives transformed by the power of Jesus Christ and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.  Simply restated from HCF’s Fourth Core Value, Spiritual Transformation:

We value personal holiness. Becoming like Christ is chief among our pursuits, and spiritual transformation is something we continually strive for so that we take on the character and likeness of Christ in our thoughts, words, and deeds. True saving faith in Christ brings about an obedience to God's commandments which powerfully changes our lives. Bearing the fruit of the Spirit in our daily lives is our humble desire. This is the ministry of the Holy Spirit in sanctification and our cooperation with Him is at the forefront of our worship. Humility and forbearing love are values of importance in our relation to God and to one another.

We want to see people grow in their faith.

UNION

We can live lives that reflect that we are in union with Christ since we believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and having been born of God death has no power over us.  "Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world" (I John 4:4b).  Unimaginable rewards and glories await us in heaven.  Christ’s promises are true and He gives faith to those who believe.  Let us obey Him and keep His commandments that we might live victorious lives in the world.  Christ has overcome this world, and because we are in union with Him we will sit down with Him on His throne as He also sat down with His Father on His throne (Revelation 3:21).

MEETING INFORMATION

The Union meets on Sunday mornings at 9:30am throughout the school year, and throughout the whole year they meet on Friday nights from 6pm-9pm for a book study, prayer time, and fellowship time.

PERSONAL INVITATION

You are personally invited to come and be edified, encouraged, and engaged as a disciple of Christ, living victorious lives in this world as we live in union with Christ.
